Mason City, founded in April1886, was named for the first Supreme Court Judge of Nebraska, the Honorable Oliver Perry Mason.    In July that year the railroad came through town.   Mason City’s first baby was Merle W. Runyan, who became a lawyer and practiced his chosen career in Broken Bow, Neb.
